Interview with Darren McKee on the Threat (and Benefit) of AI to Writers
In the new and scary world of "Superintelligence," McKee tells writers to view AI "like a calculator," but be transparent about your usage. Listen in:
Here’s the recording of my interview with Darren McKee on his new book, “Uncontrollable: The Threat of Artificial Superintelligence and The Race to Save the World.”
McKee is an author, speaker, and advisor on artificial intelligence. In the interview, he breaks down what writers need to keep in mind as AI becomes more prevalent in our daily writing lives.
Some of the topics we tackled include:
The current controversy with Sports Illustrated. Is this the tip of the iceberg?
What will AI look like in three years or five and what really is the biggest threat to writers? (Or biggest threat altogether? The book’s title is terrifying.)
For non-fiction writers and journalists, what does AI mean for attribution, accuracy and bias moving forward?
And much more…
Also, if you are so inclined, you can buy the book here.
Stay tuned for our last interview of the year in two weeks, where we will chat with Howard Lovy on crowdfunding your book. Lovy is an essayist and the former managing editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. He is currently a book editor and is crowdfunding a work of nonfiction on antisemitism.
Don’t miss this! Details will be available shortly.

Fascinating discussion! Should be a boon for fiction, especially sci-fi writers.
