In her debut novel, Wakelyn follows Elsie Jane, a young mother whose husband suddenly dies from a drug overdose. Inspired by true life events, the novel explores what happens when a grieving widow's actions don't live up to society's expectations.
One highlight (around the 16 minute mark) is when Wakelyn talks about motherhood, and how it’s okay for women to be messy, especially when dealing with grief. Watch and learn.
